Where to source reliable information

The days until Brexit are counting down. We understand there is a lot of uncertainty within this subject. Therefore thought it best to let our clients know where they can get reliable, and up to date information from. When we receive any updates or changes to the given advice, we will up date our posts.

The pet travel scheme

The information we receive regarding pet travel after Brexit is sent to us from the Governmental website through the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA)

Check all changes at:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pet-travel-to-europe-after-brexit

We recommend contacting us in good time before booking your trip abroad; we can then advise appropriately.

After Brexit it is suggested to start preparing FOUR months before travelling.

For more information our vets will be more than happy to discuss this with you in a consult. Before booking a trip abroad with your pet you will need to ensure the following:

1. Your pet is microchipped

2. Your pets rabies vaccination is up to date

3. You have returned to your vets at least 30 days after your pet's last rabies vaccination for a blood test to check its worked

4. Wait 3 calendar months after successful blood testing before travel

5.Return to your vet within 10 days of travel for an animal health certificate

Ordering medications

We regularly order medications through our supplier. They frequently contact us regarding any issues with drug supply.

If and when we have any difficulty sourcing medications we will contact any clients who may be affected.
