Keyhole Neutering
Comfier, Safer and a Quicker Recovery
Keyhole Spays at Jurassic Vets
Jurassic Vets is proud to be the only practice in the Sidmouth and Colyton area able to offer advanced laparoscopic ("keyhole") surgery for pets. Female dogs will be able to benefit from keyhole neutering, offering dramatically improved comfort and shorter recovery times for our patients.
The service is based at our Colyton practice and is open to patients of our Sidmouth practice too, as well as any owners who would like to transfer to Jurassic Vets to enjoy the benefits of keyhole neutering for their female dog.
Why might a Keyhole Spay be best for my female dog?
Neutering is strongly advised for any female dog, because neutered females live, on average, longer and healthier lives. This is because neutering eliminates the risk of ovarian cancer and unplanned pregnancies, reduces the risk of breast cancer by up to 99% and almost entirely eliminates the risk of dangerous womb infections (pyometra).
Keyhole spaying holds several advantages compared to traditional "open" spays, such as:
• Reduced post operative pain compared
• Quicker post operative recovery
• Reduced risk of wound breakdown
• Reduced post-operative hospitalisation
• Smaller wounds
• Reduced tissue trauma and inflammation
